Probability distribution.Your estimated grade and confidence level become a distribution across plausible outcomes. A “high confidence PSA 9” is mostly PSA 9, with some chance of 8 or 10. Lower confidence widens the spread.
Comp-driven sale prices. Each grade outcome is multiplied by the recent median sale price at that grade for that grading company. PSA generally commands the highest premium; BGS Black Label 10s are an exception.
Tier selection.The cheapest service tier whose declared-value cap fits the card's expected graded value, and that produces a positive expected profit. A $50 card doesn't need Express service.
The verdict. If expected graded value minus submission cost minus raw value is positive, submit. Otherwise the math says sell raw — and that recommendation is honest, not pessimistic.
